How is this Product Management Discord “different”

  • Anonymous – Most PM groups will have participants advertising their company, full name, and positions. Being anonymous helps create a more comfortable environment to chat without having to worry about asking “silly questions”.
  • Casual, Conversational, and Candid – Non Professional discussion – Have fun, and ask what you really want to ask no need to be worried about being judged and people knowing who asked the question.
  • Targeted for the underdogs – We want to help those that are struggling to get into PM.

Why we created this PM Discord

While we were struggling to get into PM, the problem we ran into was that all the PM chat forums are full of people that labeled where they work and current PM accomplishments. It was not as welcoming to ask the questions we want. What if my boss was in there? What If a potential interviewer was reading my question? Are they hitting on me?

Also, everyone liked to show off either they were Ex-Google ex-Facebook ex, Stanford. Etc. It’s great, but it’s not too helpful for people coming into the community that is not from those backgrounds.

We wanted to create a community where you can feel free to ask anything you want.

  • “How do you answer this question?”
  • “Can you review my PM take-home exercise?”
  • “I’m having trouble getting alignment from all my teams what are some suggestions you have?”.

It’s nice to have a place to chat without labels and biases and don’t have to worry about judgment. Don’t have to feel ashamed asking real questions and don’t have to sugarcoat answers.

Tell it like it is without having to worry about looking bad because it’s non-professional.
